Chennai, Sept. 27 -- At least 36 people died in a tragic stampede incident at a politicaloutreach rally organised by Tamilaga Vettri Kazahgam (TVK) Founder and actor-politicianVijay at Karur tonight, even as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin ordered a judicial probeinto the incident and announced a solatum of Rs ten lakh to the families of the deceased.
Mr Stalin, who reviewed the situation at an emergency high level held at the State Secretariattonight, said 36 people have died in this unfortunate tragic incident so far.
Reports received here said more than 50 people have been admitted to Karur GovernmentMedical College Hospital and private hospitals.
