Chennai, Oct. 8 -- The one-member commission constituted by the Tamil Nadu Government to probe the Karur stampede, which claimed 41 lives during the political rally of TVK Founder and actor Vijay, has been directed to submit its report within three months.

A Government Order (GO) was issued the day after the tragedy, moments after constituting the panel headed by retired Justice Ms. Aruna Jagadeesan, also detailed her terms of reference, including measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The GO, made public last night, stated that the commission would inquire into the "causes and circumstances" leading to the stampede and "fix responsibility" for any lapses that resulted in the tragedy.
