Bengaluru, April 4 -- BJP MLA S Shivaraj Patil on Friday alleged that his phone was being tapped-prompting a swift response from Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, who assured a thorough probe into the sensational claim.

"I will speak to the SP, IG and DGP of that region. If such an incident has occurred, we will investigate the reason behind the phone tapping and take appropriate action," Dr Parameshwara told reporters, as the charge threatened to snowball into a full-blown political controversy.

The allegation comes amid a series of other sensitive developments, including the alleged suicide of a BJP functionary in Bengaluru.
