Bengaluru, April 25 -- Karnataka government on Friday declared state mourning on Saturday as a mark of respect to Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21.

According to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), the funeral of Pope Francis will be held on the same day, and the state will observe mourning throughout the day in honour of the departed soul.

During the mourning period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings where it is regularly displayed. In addition, all forms of official entertainment and celebratory events have been prohibited, the notification stated.
