Bengaluru, May 14 -- Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said the state government has decided to constitute an anti-communal force within the police department to counter rising incidents of communal polarisation.

Speaking to reporters here, Parameshwara said the move is inspired by the earlier formation of an anti-Naxal force to curb Naxalite activity in the state. "On similar lines, we intend to create an anti-communal unit to ensure peace and harmony in society," he told reporters here.

The Home Minister expressed concern over sporadic incidents of communal polarisation and stressed the need for proactive measures to maintain law and order.
