Bengaluru, Aug. 11 -- Karnataka's "vote chori" (vote theft) storm escalated sharply today as Governor Thaavarchand Gahlot approved the recommendation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to accept minister KN Rajanna's resignation.
The resignation comes hours after the senior leader's remarks questioning Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's claims on voter list tampering triggered a political uproar.
Rajanna's exit capped a day of high drama in the Legislative Assembly, where he had defiantly rejected Opposition demands for his resignation, insisting it was a matter only for those "constitutionally empowered" to decide.
