Bengaluru, Dec. 4 -- The Karnataka High Court on Thursday stayed all further proceedings in the FIR filed against union Minister HD Kumaraswamy for allegedly making a false statement during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign.

The case stems from Kumaraswamy's April 14, 2024 campaign speech supporting BJP candidate V Sommanna, in which he allegedly referred to Sommanna's rival as a disciple of gangster Kotwal Ramachandra. The FIR invoked Section 171G of the IPC and Section 123(4) of the Representation of Peoples Act.
