Bengaluru, Oct. 28 -- The Karnataka High Court today orally held that the petition filed by fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya, seeking information on the outstanding debt owed by him and his erstwhile airline Kingfisher Airlines and its holding company United Breweries Holdings Limited in liquidation, is not maintainable.

A bench led by Justice Lalitha Kanneganti observed that Mallya should have instead pursued a company petition before the statutory company court. The bench questioned the maintainability of the plea, asking why the High Court should entertain such a petition when appropriate remedies exist in the company court.
