Bengaluru, April 1 -- The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday stayed the proceedings in a criminal case against MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal over his alleged derogatory remarks made against actress Ranya Rao.
Patil, who was recently expelled from the BJP for alleged anti-party activities, had moved the High Court seeking quashing of the First Information Report (FIR) registered against him in the matter.
Justice Pradeep Singh Yerur, after hearing preliminary arguments, directed the state government to submit its response and posted the matter for further hearing in two weeks. Meanwhile, the court ordered a stay on the criminal proceedings against Yatnal.
