Karnataka HC quashes case against filmmaker Ranjith
Bengaluru, July 4 -- The Karnataka High Court today quashed a sexual assault case filed against Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith Balakrishnan by an aspiring male actor who had accused him of unnatural sex in 2012.
The court's decision came after serious factual inconsistencies were raised in the complaint, including a glaring discrepancy regarding the location of the alleged incident.
Justice SR Krishna Kumar allowed the petition filed by Balakrishnan, seeking to quash the FIR that was registered under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, dealing with unnatural offences, and Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, which relates to privacy violations.
