Bengaluru, June 6 -- The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted interim protection from arrest to top office-bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), in connection with the June 4 stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives and left 56 injured.
Justice SR Krishna Kumar passed the order while hearing a petition filed by KSCA president Raghuram Bhat, secretary A Shankar, and treasurer ES Jairam, who sought quashing of the FIR registered against them at Cubbon Park Police Station.
The judge directed that no coercive action be taken against the petitioners until the next hearing on June 16, provided they cooperate with the ongoing investigation and judicial inquiry.
