Bengaluru, Sept. 22 -- The Karnataka High Court today signalled that it would not allow a "fait accompli" in the state's proposed survey on the social and educational status of citizens, asking the government to defer any irreversible steps until the court hears petitions against the exercise after the Dusshera break in October.
In simple terms, the court does not want the government to complete the collection of citizens' personal details before the case is fully considered. Any actions that cannot be undone, such as gathering or storing personal data, should be deferred until the court delivers its final decision after the holidays.
