Chikkamagaluru, Dec. 21 -- union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi on Saturday alleged that the Congress-led Karnataka government has introduced the Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention and Control) Bill, 2025, for political appeasement and intimidation.
Speaking to the media in Balehonnur, Joshi said the state government appears to have a mindset that anyone who speaks against it should face jail. "That is why they have brought this law - to target activists and intimidate people," he added.
He further claimed that many individuals give speeches with jihadi intent and argued that the government should target them first if it truly wants to enforce the law.
