Karnataka Guv returns Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill
Bengaluru, March 26 -- Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Wednesday returned the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill to the state government, seeking clarifications on key aspects of the proposed legislation.
Governor Gehlot raised several concerns regarding the bill, including the failure of the Delhi model of multiple municipal corporations and the possibility of similar challenges in Bengaluru.
He also expressed concerns over potential interference with the powers of elected local bodies, which are safeguarded under the 74th Constitutional Amendment. Legal and public interest concerns flagged by civic groups and opposition leaders also need to be addressed before implementation.
