Karnataka govt to press for Krishna Tribunal verdict implementation
Bengaluru, May 3 -- The Karnataka Government has resolved to press the Union Government to issue a gazette notification of the final award of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II (KWDT-II) during the meeting convened by the Union Jal Shakti Ministry on May 7.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a strategy meeting with cabinet colleagues from the Krishna basin region and senior legal experts to firm up the state's position ahead of the crucial meeting.
Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar said Karnataka would strongly demand the notification of the tribunal's award, which is essential for the state to begin utilising its share of 173 tmc ft of Krishna river water.
