Bengaluru, Jan. 29 -- With an aim to promote Khadi and support the Khadi industry, the Karnataka government has directed its five lakh employees to wear Khadi clothes on the first Saturday of every month.

This new rule will come into effect on Civil Service Day, April 21. This rule applies to all state government employees, including those working in various boards and corporations, universities, various authorities, and aided institutions.

The decision in this regard was taken on Thursday at a meeting between Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and officials of the Karnataka State Government Employees Association (KSGEA).
