Gadag, Sept. 21 -- Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission Chairman Madhusudan Naik today announced that 33 controversial Christian nomenclatures listed in the draft caste list prepared by the commission have been dropped.

Speaking at a press conference in Gadag, Naik said that the 33 nomenclatures were originally included based on data used in previous surveys conducted by the commission. He clarified that the internally prepared drop-down list in the ongoing social and educational survey is intended solely for voluntary entries from respondents.

"This list has no legal validity and neither survey participants nor any other individuals can use it for any purpose other than contributing to the survey," he added.
