Bengaluru, Nov. 28 -- Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily on Friday sharply criticised the party leadership, saying it should step down due to negligence which he said has led to a destructive situation in Karnataka, following the ongoing power tussle between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar.

Addressing the ongoing political turmoil in the state, Moily said the Congress leadership has failed to ensure accountability, both among state-level functionaries and party leaders. "The people in charge of states should brief the party from time to time on the ground situation. That is not being done. Nobody is made accountable, whether at the state level or within the party leadership," he said.
