Koppal, Oct. 6 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lost his temper during a media interaction here today, snapping at his own minister, Shivaraj Tangadagi, over a question regarding a separate Lingayat religion.

The incident occurred at Ginigera Air Strip in Koppal when journalists asked the Chief Minister about the ongoing caste census and the demand for Lingayats to be recognised as a separate religion.

Tangadagi struggled to clarify the miscommunication, after which Siddaramaiah snapped at him, stating he had no official stance on the Lingayat separate religion issue, adding, "Some virakta seers are demanding it." He emphasised that people could choose their religion freely.
