Bengaluru, Sept. 18 -- The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka today firmly rejected Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegation of large-scale deletion of voters in the state's Aland Assembly constituency, describing the charge as "incorrect and baseless".

Clarifying the procedure for maintaining electoral rolls, the CEO underlined that voter names cannot be removed from the rolls through online submissions alone. "Every request for deletion is subjected to field verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs)," he said, adding that the process is designed to prevent unauthorised tampering with the rolls.
