Bengaluru, May 22 -- In a significant administrative decision, the Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday approved the renaming of Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South District for all official and governance purposes, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced.

Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Shivakumar said the decision was taken after due legal deliberation and aims to bring greater administrative efficiency and development focus to the region.

"Ramanagara district was earlier part of Bengaluru district. While the headquarters will continue to remain in Ramanagara, the district will henceforth be known as Bengaluru South District for all administrative purposes," he said. The move is expected to integrate the area more clo...
