Nandi Hills, July 2 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today announced a series of significant administrative, educational, and infrastructure decisions following a high-level state cabinet meeting, including key renaming initiatives and major budgetary allocations for social welfare and water projects.

Addressing reporters after the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said, "We have declared Bangalore Rural District as Bangalore North. We have changed the name of Bagepalli to Bhagyanagar."

In a major gesture, he added, "We are going to name Bengaluru City University after the former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh. It will now be known as Dr Manmohan Singh University."
