Bengaluru, Aug. 13 -- Karnataka BJP president and Shikaripura MLA Vijayendra Yediyurappa today demanded in the Legislative Assembly that the brutal killing of Hindu activist Gavi Siddappa Nayak in Koppal be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), alleging that the public has lost faith in the state police.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Yediyurappa said the August 3 murder occurred because Siddappa, from the Valmiki community, was in love with a girl from another community. Around 7.30 pm that day, the accused, along with an accomplice, allegedly hacked him to death with a machete.
