Bengaluru, Aug. 11 -- The Karnataka Legislative Assembly today revoked the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs, a decision endorsed by voice vote after consultations between Speaker UT Khader, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and senior leaders from both sides.
The legislators had been suspended on March 21 for six months over charges of 'indiscipline' during a protest against Muslim reservations.
The punitive action had sparked sharp criticism from the Opposition and was followed by several appeals, culminating in a formal petition of regret by the suspended members.
With today's resolution, the Assembly seeks to put an end to a contentious episode marked by heated protests and disruptions.
