Hubballi, Jan. 28 -- Three men accused in a murder case were shot in the leg by Karnataka Police when they allegedly attempted to attack officers and escape during an operation in the city on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Abhishek, Vinod, and Yallappa, were arrested following the incident.
Police Inspectors Srimantha Hunasikatti and Sunil, attached to Vidyanagar and Kamaripet police stations respectively, opened fire during the encounter.
According to police, the trio had brutally murdered 24-year-old Akash Valmiki near Unakal Lake late Monday night. Acting on intelligence, officers moved to apprehend the suspects, who reportedly resisted arrest, attempted to attack the team, and tried to flee the scene.
