Haveri (Karnataka), Feb. 6 -- A government staff nurse in Karnataka was suspended on Thursday for allegedly using Fevikwik, an instant adhesive, in place of medical stitches to close the facial wound of a seven-year-old boy.
The incident occurred on January 14 at a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Adoor village of Haveri district. The staff nurse, identified as Jyothi, defended her action when questioned by the child's parents, stating that sutures would leave permanent marks on the cheeks.
Following complaints from the parents, who shared the incident on social media after the child's condition worsened, the Health and Family Welfare Department took cognisance and suspended Jyothi for dereliction of duty.
