Bengaluru, July 31 -- The Karnataka political landscape is abuzz with speculation following Home Minister G Parameshwara's call for a meeting of Dalit MLAs and ministers on August 2 at his residence in Bengaluru.

The move gains significance amid renewed discussions about the possibility of Karnataka getting its first Dalit Chief Minister, following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's public expression of regret over being denied the CM post in 1999.

Dr Parameshwara, a senior Dalit leader himself, welcomed Kharge's remarks and backed the idea of his return to state politics.
