Bengaluru, Sept. 4 -- Tensions escalated in Karnataka's Ramanagara district as farmers protested against the Greater Bengaluru Governance Authority (RMG) project, fearing loss of their agricultural lands.
The demonstration took place at the Ramanagara District Collector's office, prompting a visit by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who issued a stern warning to the protesting farmers.
Farmers voiced strong opposition to the acquisition of their land under the Greater Bengaluru Authority plan, which they claimed threatened their livelihoods. Raising slogans and criticising government policies, the protesters also expressed discontent against local MLA H.C. Balakrishna, suspecting his role in the project's implementation.
