Ranchi, Jan. 13 -- Senior BJP leader, former Khunti MP and Padma Bhushan awardee Kariya Munda has received extortion threats from an unidentified person impersonating a police officer.
This is the first such incident reported by the 80-year-old tribal leader.
According to his personal assistant Dr Nirmal Singh, repeated calls were made from a mobile number to Munda's phone, with the caller identifying himself as a police officer and demanding money while issuing threats. Dr Singh shared details of the incident on social media platform X, tagging the police and the Chief Minister's Office, and sought strict action against the accused.
He said Munda is currently unwell and the threatening calls have caused him mental distress.
