Chandigarh, Aug. 8 -- Lance Naik Deepchand, a Kargil War hero from Hisar, Haryana, was honored in a unique gesture during a flight from Kanpur to Mumbai on July 22. The decorated soldier, who lost both legs in the 1999 conflict, was recognized mid-air at 35,000 feet, leaving passengers and crew in awe of his courage.
Hailing from Pabda village in Hisar, Deepchand expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unprecedented honor. "I've never experienced such a moment," he said, visibly moved. During the flight, the pilot made a special announcement, introducing Deepchand as a "Guest of Honor" seated in seat number 1.
