Kanpur, Oct. 22 -- One child died and another remains in critical condition today after a boat carrying four children capsized in a pond in Sujalpur Bhadhiya village under the Bilhaur police station area of Kanpur.
The children, who had gone to the pond to harvest water chestnuts (singhara), were retrieved by villagers and rushed to a hospital. Kanhaiya (15), the son of a neighbour, was declared dead upon arrival at Rama Hospital, Mandhana. Tanya (15), daughter of villager Shyam Babu Kashyap, was admitted to Hallett Hospital, where her condition is critical.
