Kanpur, April 20 -- Kanpur police have intensified their investigation into an illegal kidney transplant racket, adopting an unusual approach by tracking the accused through their girlfriends.
The probe has now expanded to the Delhi-NCR region, where several suspects are believed to have connections.
According to officials, information about four accused persons' girlfriends has surfaced. Some of these women have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
Investigators suspect that the accused used their partners' bank accounts and assistance for financial transactions and communication related to the illegal activities.
