Kalaburagi, Sept. 28 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today issued urgent instructions to state officials and district authorities to intensively monitor and manage the flood situation along the Bhima riverbanks and affected villages in Kalaburagi district.

The heavy rainfall in the district, combined with increased water discharge from the Ujani and other reservoirs on the Krishna river in Maharashtra, has created a flood-like scenario in low-lying areas.

Siddaramaiah directed Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, and the Kalaburagi district administration to take all necessary rescue and relief measures without delay.
