Patna, Aug. 13 -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today announced that the proposal to double the pension of JP Movement veterans has been approved, and the revised
rates will take effect from August 1, 2025.
Choudhary said here that the cabinet approved the to increase the pension for those who were imprisoned under MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) or DIR (Defence of India Rules)
during the movement led by Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan between March 18, 1974, and
March 21, 1977.
Under the JP Samman Yojana, earlier, veterans who spent one to six months in jail received Rs 5,000 per month, while those imprisoned for more than six months were given Rs 10,000 per month. Families of those who died in jail or in polic...
