New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- A joint expedition team consisting of instructors from three premier National Mountaineering Institutes successfully summited Mt Merag-III (6,480 meters) and Mt Kangju Kangri (6,710 meters), the highest peaks in the Pangong Tso region of Ladakh.

The participating institutes were the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM&WS), Pahalgam; the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, a Defence Ministry statement said.
