Ranchi, Dec. 18 -- : The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has raised serious concerns over the proposed VB-GRAM Bill, 2025, warning that it could dilute the legal and economic safeguards provided to rural households under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005.

Party central general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said the proposed framework weakens the rights-based character of MGNREGA by shifting responsibility away from the Centre and reducing statutory accountability for guaranteed employment.

According to JMM, MGNREGA assures 100 days of wage employment to rural households, with clear provisions for unemployment allowance, timely wage payments, and mandatory social audits. The VB-GRAM B...
