Srinagar, Sept. 22 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer who was arrested last week by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Srinagar had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a local trader for clearing his Goods and Services Tax (GST) file.
According to the FIR registered by CBI on September 19, a complaint was lodged on September 17 by a trader from Srinagar alleging that Sarfaraz Ahmad, posted as Circle Tax Officer (CTO), Circle-B, State Taxes Department, Srinagar, was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 in return for clearing GST dues.
The complainant didn't want to pay the bribe and sought appropriate action against the said official.
