Ranchi, Nov. 28 -- Jharkand is reeling under severe cold conditions as the month of November draws to an end, with temperatures dipping sharply across several districts.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for cold wave in Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga and Latehar, forecasting day and night temperatures to remain 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal.

The intense cold has made mornings and evenings particularly harsh. Simdega recorded a minimum temperature of 5degC, driven by icy winds, with conditions comparable to those in Himachal Pradesh.
