Ranchi, July 11 -- The Jharkhand Cabinet today approved the procurement of 2,388 vehicles for the state police at a total estimated cost of Rs 146.79 crore. The decision was taken in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

According to the Home, Jail, and Disaster Management Department, 1,255 four-wheelers and 1,133 two-wheelers will be purchased for use across police stations.

Officials said that the lack of adequate and functional vehicles has affected mobility and enforcement capacity, particularly in rural and remote regions.

All vehicles will carry the official Jharkhand Police insignia and will be procured in two phases through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). If the required models are not available on GeM, procure...
