Ranchi, April 23 -- A roundtable on rural women empowerment in Ranchi on Thursday called for formulation of a comprehensive women policy in Jharkhand.

The meeting was organised by Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) and attended by women representatives from across the state.

Rural development and panchayati raj minister Dipika Pandey Singh said the government is working to promote leadership among rural women beyond livelihood support.

She said around 3.2 million women are linked with self-help groups in the state and are contributing to economic and social development.

Participants raised the need for a policy framework focusing on education, health, safety and leadership development of women.
