Ranchi, March 13 -- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday handed over 1,485 modern vehicles to the state police and laid the foundation stones of 12 new police stations in different districts.
At a function held in the Jharkhand Assembly premises here, the chief minister flagged off the vehicles and inaugurated the projects through remote mode.
Soren said the move would strengthen policing and improve law and order across the state by enhancing mobility, surveillance and quick response capability of the police force.
He described the initiative as a major step towards police modernisation and said such a large fleet of vehicles was being provided to the Jharkhand police for the first time since the formation of the state.
