Ranchi, Feb. 28 -- The results of the Jharkhand municipal body elections were declared on Friday, with major political upsets and decisive victories reported across the state.

In Ranchi, BJP-supported candidate Roshni Khalko won the mayoral post by defeating Congress-backed Rama Khalko by a margin of 14,363 votes. Interestingly, JMM-supported candidate Sujit Vijay Aapan Kujur secured 19,305 votes, exceeding the margin of victory.

In a significant development in Jamshedpur's Mango Municipal Corporation, where elections were held for the first time, Congress-supported Sudha Gupta, wife of former minister Banna Gupta, made history by defeating BJP-backed Sandhya Singh by 18,601 votes.
