Ranchi, Nov. 29 -- The Jharkhand government has initiated a statewide screening campaign for thalassemia, sickle cell disease and anemia, aiming to fill the long-standing gap in accurate health data for these serious conditions.

Health Minister Irfan Ansari said that unlike most states, Jharkhand lacks clear district-wise information on the number of patients affected, which has hindered effective treatment and planning.

Ansari stated, "No district in Jharkhand has precise data on thalassemia and sickle cell patients. These are severe diseases, and treatment will be ensured within the state under all circumstances.
