Ranchi, Oct. 25 -- The Jharkhand High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of a serious incident at Chaibasa Sadar Hospital, where a thalassemia-afflicted child was allegedly transfused with HIV-infected blood.
Following the court directive, a five-member special investigation team (SIT) from the state government reached Chaibasa from Ranchi to probe the matter.
The SIT, led by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Director of Health Services, Jharkhand, conducted extensive discussions with hospital doctors, inspected the blood bank, and collected multiple samples for testing. Several lapses were reportedly identified in the hospital's blood bank operations.
