Ranchi, Dec. 4 -- In a major relief for Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday allowed him to skip personal appearance before the MP-MLA Court in a case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over an alleged land scam.

Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary issued the order while hearing Soren's petition challenging the lower court's directive requiring his physical presence.

The High Court ruled that Soren may be represented by his lawyer, offering significant relief to the chief minister.

The High Court decision comes amid escalating legal pressure on the chief minister, who has been accused by the ED of repeatedly ignoring its summons during the probe into suspected irregularities in land deals.
