Ranchi, Feb. 20 -- Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari said on Friday that each Sahiya worker -- healthcare service providers in rural areas -- will receive a lumpsum incentive of Rs 24,000 in their bank accounts on March 8, on International Women's Day.
The Sahiyas play a crucial role in delivering grassroots healthcare services in rural areas under the National Health Mission, including vaccination drives, support in the Jal Jeevan Mission, and outreach of essential health services to households.
There are about 43,000 Sahiya women working across Jharkhand. The state government had recently increased their monthly honorarium from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 and also provides smartphones and other incentives to support their work.
