Ranchi, Dec. 22 -- BJP state president and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Jharkhand government, alleging that compensation in the state is being decided on the basis of political advantage rather than the extent of suffering or disaster faced by affected people.
Marandi said it was unfortunate that in Jharkhand, compensation was no longer linked to hardship or calamity.
"Families rendered homeless during the harsh winter fail to draw the government's attention because there is no political gain involved," he remarked.
Referring to the removal of encroachments on RIMS land, Marandi said the pain of families whose houses were demolished was visible to everyone except the government.
