Ranchi, April 16 -- Jharkhand's excise department has recorded its highest-ever revenue collection of Rs 4,013.53 crore in the financial year 2025-26, officials said on Thursday.

The previous highest collection stood at around Rs 2,700 crore, which has been surpassed significantly this fiscal.

Officials attributed the increase to stricter enforcement against illegal liquor trade, improved monitoring systems and policy reforms in the sector.

Measures such as strengthening digital tracking of liquor supply and sales, action against illegal manufacturing and transportation, and changes in licensing and excise structure contributed to the rise in revenue.
