Ranchi, April 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accused the Jharkhand government of politicising Panchayat outreach and claiming credit for funds released by the Centre for rural development.
State BJP president Aditya Sahu alleged that Chief Minister Hemant Soren was highlighting Panchayat initiatives with elections approaching and termed the move "politically motivated".
Sahu said the Centre has allocated Rs 2,254 crore to 4,342 panchayats in Jharkhand, which translates to around Rs 52 lakh per panchayat for development works.
He alleged that the state government was attempting to take credit for centrally released funds and questioned its track record on rural governance over the past four years.
