Ranchi, Dec. 5 -- The winter session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly began on Friday with the House offering tributes to eminent personalities who passed away since the last session.

Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato noted that the nation and the state have lost several distinguished figures from the fields of politics, art, industry, and social service.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren and leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi joined members in paying homage. The House remembered film icon and former MP Dharmendra, former Meghalaya Chief Minister DD Lapang, former governor Satyapal Malik, and former union minister Prakash Jaiswal.
